BILL'S BLOG ON WRITING, RUNNING, AND POLITICS

Welcome to Bill's Blog on Writing, Running, and Politics, the personal weblog of Bill Hammons, Unity's Chairman. For those curious visitors who don't know what I'm talking about, here's the website of the Unity Party of America, which supports a Balanced Budget Amendment among many other things.

Click here or on any of the blog text below for my space on MySpace, where you can find my latest blog entries.

Gabe, you bastard...

Don't know if you subscribe to my blog, but no matter...thanks for the karma of posting that "good luck" comment with a photo of the Brazilian marathoner de Lima being jumped by that defrocked priest in the 2004 Olympic marathon. For those of you who aren't familiar with the incident, de Lima had been leading in the final miles of the race, was pulled off the course by the priest, and lost the gold medal as a result.

About me: I wasn't on track to win today's 20-mile race down in Aurora, but I was doing well enough to be ahead of the pack when I took a wrong turn during Mile 10. I can only really blame myself: the race organizers did put up a sign that I saw later and you can't really expect too much direction in a small race spread over 20 miles. I was headed in the same general direction as the course the entire time, and jumped back on track at Mile 13 after coming across one of the aid station personnel and getting directions, but my race effort was botched. The race director didn't seem too concerned when I told him about it, and I'm not even sure that they deleted me from the results, but it would've been nice to have an official 20-mile time to add to my running resume. I threw the shirt away; you can't wear it if you haven't run it.

Oh, well. Thanks, Gabe.

Another Day, Another Dollar

Okay, more than a dollar, but it was a slog - 22 new web pages today. Could've cranked out a heck of a lot more, but the dog needed a walk, etc. and I needed some breaks this afternoon.

And one of those breaks was working on this profile. Hope my visitors like "American Pie" (who doesn't?)...not quite on the money for a song that says "Me," but it has a nice, long length for perusing a profile that literally keeps getting longer and longer, and it fills the audio void til I can think of something else.

Speaking of "long," nice to get that email from the one with the nice legs (oh, don't worry, I let her know as much).

peace/

Encountered a bit of a quandary here. Put up a profile on myspace. Thing is there's a blog function there that's a little easier to use than posting on this page (plus in some ways it might be a more effective way to spread the word, whatever the word might be). It probably wouldn't hurt to slap the same content on both blogs, and get the most bang for my typing buck.

For now (til I've thought it over some more), here's a small insight into my initial myspace experience:

Nosing the Grindstone...

Category: Life

Will try this again (disabling my pop-up blocker somehow erased my last entry).

Whatever, now I'm out of that zone. Went for my morning run, and now back to the grindstone on wrhammons.com...

Fleshed It Out

Realized at 6:30 that I was supposed to be meeting friends for dinner, and that was at 6:00...finally got around to fleshing out my profile after getting back at ten...

Now to put the dog in the crate (photo of the little guy / me and the little guy to come tomorrow) and hit the sack for another day...

Hello, Myspace

Yes, very original first subject line, I'm sure. I've heard of this site for going on years, but I only decided to check it out after a bunch of my buddies revealed the other night that they were members.

We'll see if this works for me...right now I'm breaking to catch the news...
