The Unity Party of America
Nice to see that The Unity Party of America is starting to take off, at least on MySpace. This blogger is exhausted and needs a good night's sleep, but he just sort of wanted to wrap the week up in his own head by banging a few thoughts out on the keyboard.
MySpace is just what we needed - enthusiastic supporters ready to fill the organizational structure that we've created over the last year and a half, and ready to work for a platform of centrist positions that seems to be so popular. We'll finish reaching out to other third party memberships (I've already been in touch with more than one officer of one party), not to mention more Schwarzenaegger supporters, and get more names up on the party website. Who knows, maybe more of those 250+ average daily visitors will stick lol...
Need sleep...

MySpace v. The Real World
Sitting here in front of the computer while my friends watch The Real World on my MTV...apparently this is the episode when two housemates have sex (obviously I don't follow this show - though I've told them to keep me posted while I do something more interesting than watch others blather and backbite).
So, folks, who do you think is more in touch with reality at this moment?

Thanks anyways...
Yep, already getting offers for a PHP set-up for my entire site v. HTML, vs. the help I advertised for, etc.
I already use PHP in my site's forums section, and while it's fine for letting your site's users create their own pages, etc., I don't think it's quite ideal for the rest of my site. Among other issues, there's the search engine readability of the pages, not to mention the creation of specific meta tags for each and every page, etc. Many of these issues are resolvable (and solvable before they ever become an issue), but it's best to go with the technology that works just fine, and keep the newfangled technology at arm's length til you have a good reason to embrace it.

They finally put up my ad "Website Needs Independent Contractors For Light HTML"...
It took them five hours (vs. the advertised 10 mins. - I think our myspace hosts are having a little trouble keeping up with their guests these days), but my "Help Wanted" ad is finally up in the Classifieds section.
And I decided it wouldn't hurt to copy and paste the same thing here, and make the most of this morning's keystrokes. One annoying thing is that they make you specify by city/neighborhood, etc. (at least as far as I can tell) and, as you can see below, geography is irrelevant (I wouldn't be surprised if I hear back from kids in China (does their gov't let them do this?), India, Russia, etc. The first person to sign into my "Authors" group is from Tehran, so who knows...
Website Needs Independent Contractors for Light HTML
We're hiring here at wrhammons.com! We're looking for independent contractors to help put together Web pages to expand wrhammons.com, an up-and-coming website that currently receives over 900 visitors a day.
wrhammons.com pays $2 per page for very light HTML entry, payable every Tuesday anywhere in the world by check sent snail mail or by electronic payment via PayPal. Enter emailed info into an HTML boilerplate, return the finished page by email, and you'll get two bucks the following week. If you've done a good job, you'll get more and bigger assignments, and so on...
This work comes with opportunities for advancement; look around the site, and, if you're a responsible, nit-picking, detail-oriented self-starter who's ready to put the nose to the grindstone and earn some easy cash, email us today!

Another Friday Night...
and I ain't got nobody...
Actually, the paraphrase of Sam Cooke is true, but, don't worry, I *am* going out tonight, folks (it was killing time either watching the rest of "Some Kind of Monster" (great documentary about Metallica's recent troubles) or updating my profile with a new background image, etc. (how you folks like my take on Lake Isabelle? - with all modesty, I think it's better than the professional one I found through Google when I was confirming that it was indeed Lake Isabelle).
Just joined the "Boston Qualified Marathoners" group - I came across it when I was searching for competition for a new group I plan to start to complement Bill's Boston Marathon Qualifiers Guide. It's surprising that there are only 24 members (er, 25 now), especially considering that the membership includes Josh f***ing Cox. Hmm, I guess I won't have to worry too much if my own group doesn't take off right away.
Now to grab something to eat, maybe on my way to Point B...

Alternity
And posted an excerpt from my second novel in the same discussion group ("Authors Who Want to Find a Literary Agent and Get Their Book Published" - see previous blog entry), the entire body of text linked to my site. Nothing like lots of content that's going somewhere, so to speak ;-)...

Morning, MySpace!
Yep, already online and doing my thing this morning (working, actually - whether being a semi-workaholic is better than surfing the Net for entertainment on Saturday mornings I'm not really sure).
Anyways, plugging away at a new section of wrhammons.com (nope, it's not up there yet; but the 100 or so new pages will be soon). I'll probably start a new myspace group to complement it, depending on how the one I started last night goes. Still trying to think of a witty comeback to Gabe's most pertinent literary agent question...

Wrapping Up Another Day
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers
Exhausted...CU opens its track to the public Wed evening now that there's enough evening light, and, voila, I waited til 4:30 to head out the door for the run that usually takes place in the morning. The upshot is that I spent roughly a real workday in front of the computer (for once). Imagine that in college I once literally went six months w/o a day off, waiting tables in 10-hour slammed shifts, etc.
Of course, I would like to think I'm a little more productive than your typical office drone...43 new web pages today.
Now, to finally relax a little bit. And that probably means going offline...
