October 31, 2005 5:10PM MDT Happy Halloween! Wrapping up another arduous day of running and Web work here (okay, not exactly arduous, but I definitely put my nose to the grindstone today, at least in front of the computer). After my disappointing race on Saturday, I've decided that I've been overtraining, and so I've revamped my training schedule for Boston. No more 4-hour long runs (I don't plan on doing an ultra any time soon, if ever), track workouts that leave me drained, or even two-a-days. Nope, just a jog up to Chautauqua and back, and three intervals up Mesa trailhead. Don't get me wrong - I'll gradually expand my workouts over the next five months, and maybe re-test my recovery limits, but for now I should have a little more time for other things, including this site... October 11, 2005 4:39PM MDT Yep, I finally qualified for the Boston Marathon, with a time of 3:09:06. Frankly, I've been re-evaluating whether I should be putting in so much training, seeing as how I carved only six minutes off my marathon PR, and that with increased training at increased altitude, perfect race conditions, better management of race day details, etc. But run still I will, if for no other reason than I love to run. I applied for Boston '06 today, and now's the time for recovery and reflection. I almost said "rest and reflection," but a marathoner never truly rests. Off to the hills for my first post-marathon run... |
