Folsom FieldFolsom Field, first built in 1924 and expanded over the years, is named for legendary CU football coach Fred G. Folsom. Folsom became coach in 1895 and instituted a rigorous training program on a rock-filled dirt field (Boulder didn't get its name for nothing). CU became the Colorado Football Association Champions in 1896 and Folsom maintained a 78-23-2 record during his 15 years of coaching CU teams (not bad for a school that lost its first home game 103 to 0).Click here to return to the Boulder, Colorado Geography home page. |
