John Eric Ensign (born March 25, 1958) is the Junior United States Senator from Nevada, serving since January 2001. He is a former Chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, having stepped down from that position in June 2009 after a scandal involving an extramarital affair, bribery of the husband of Ensign's mistress by Ensign, and breaking of Senate ethics rules in the course of the bribery.

Ensign, the only Pentecostal Christian in the United States Senate, was considered a possible contender for the Presidency in 2012, but is now considered doubtful as a contender for re-election to the Senate as criminal investigations slowly gather momentum.
