NO DUMB QUESTIONS
W.R. Hammons answers your questions regarding writing, running, and everything in between
Question: Can you guarantee the accuracy of the literary agent listings you've posted on this site?
Answer: I wouldn't bet my life on any fact posted on this site (other than my name is W.R. Hammons),
but I can tell you that I make a conscientious effort to be
certain the information is accurate before I post it. For example, I often come across an author's
acknowledgement page that names an agent. Unless the author specifically refers to that person as "my
agent," "thanks for representing me," etc., I won't link them as agent/author. I've come across
situations where an author and agent are friends and/or mentors without necessarily having a direct
professional relationship, and I've also come across situations where a person named by an author
only had a peripheral or subsidiary role in a deal (e.g., they were the assistant at the time to the
acutal dealmaker, or they only sold the sub-rights).
With hundreds of literary agencies and hundreds of agents out there in the market, I can't guarantee that
my placement of an agent at a given agency is still accurate, so heads-ups from agents or other interested
parties are always welcome.
