Tea Party Movement

American Political Movement

The Tea Party movement is an American political movement that supports adherence to an originalist interpretation of the United States Constitution, reduced government spending, reduced taxes, and reduction of the national debt. Tea Party supporters are generally considered to be conservative and Libertarian, and the populist movement had its beginnings in Obama-era protests against bank bailouts.

The movement has sponsored protests and supported political candidates since 2009, though there has been a strong reluctance from the beginning of the movement to create a formal, and vote-splitting, third party (much like Occupy Wall Street).
