Sid Meier’s Civilization

Anyone who knows me (especially my English students) knows that I’m avid player of the Civilization VI video game. I’m most interested in hearing from fellow enthusiasts regarding any news about Civ 7 (there’s a lot of evidence pointing to a 2024 release, but more about that later).

And, here in February 2024, I came across this page by an author who seems to know what he’s talking about when he says that the Alpha Centauri Science Victory condition will be updated with Civ 7 to creating sentient artificial intelligence …

Fair Use

For now, note that I’m using Civ 6 as a fun way of expanding and improving my German (at least that’s what I tell myself). And yes, I currently appear as the leader of the Midwest Union in the Red World Mod of the Hearts of Iron IV video game.

Finally, as a sidenote, that’s indeed my own photo of the feet of Ramesses II (Ozymandias), a set of archaeological remains near Luxor in southern Egypt often (erroneously) cited as the inspiration for Shelley’s famous poem.
